.eg domain registration rules - Egypt
To register a .eg domain, you must have a valid trademark in Egypt or have a company with at least 15 years of activity in Egypt.
However, companies or organisations that are not based in Egypt can register .eg domains, provided that they have a local presence in Egypt. If the client does not have one, Dominiando can provide the local presence service.
The registration process is complex because it is necessary to go to the embassy or consulate to authenticate the documents to be sent to the competent authority (the procedure indicated here excludes the cost).
Specifically, the documents required to register a .eg domain are:
- the power of attorney legalised at the Egyptian consulate in the applicant's country and sent, in the original, to Dominiando;
- a copy of the commercial registry or any other commercial reference;
- a request letter signed and stamped by the applicant and addressed to the Egyptian domain office, with which the applicant authorises the registration of that domain name;
- a copy of the trademark registration certificate filed with the Egyptian trademark office or designated Egyptian WIPO.
Prohibited, are domain names connected to gambling, drinking (alcoholic), adult content, and anything against Islamic law in general or that can offend religious, traditional or moral ethics.
